Sex, Drugs and Country Music: Carter Faith’s highly anticipated debut album “Cherry Valley” comes out in October and we’re taking a one way ticket to this retro western dreamland.

Carter Faith has been at this game for a while, she moved from North Carolina to Nashville at a young age to pursue music – as most country artists do, and has been working her tail off ever since, years in the making her debut album is almost here.

Carter has made her rounds through Nashville building her career and artistry brick by brick, Grammy camp, artist development programs, songwriters groups. As well as performing at Iconic Nashville spots where a lot of country’s biggest artists found their starts like the blue bird cafe. In 2022 she made her Opry debut and since then her career has started to take off, signing recently with Universal Music Nashville. Over the various years of her career Carter has released a few EP’s full of ethereal country ballads and bards . But with her debut album, Carter is doing something bigger than she ever has before, pushing her artistic boundaries and immersing us into her dreamy western fantasy land of Cherry Valley.

Think Taylor Swift meets Fleetwood Mac, mixed with Lana Del Ray and Dolly Parton, so really what’s not to love? Her traditionally rooted country sound transports us to this 60’s esque production of Carter’s Imagination. She’s credited many people and artists as her inspirations most notably Nancy Sinatra for a lot of the visual aspects of the album, making Cherry Valley a colourful mosaic of Carter’s artistic influences. Cherry Valley is a state of mind, as Carter put it on tiktok, “I’ve decided I don’t think I’m gonna live in reality anymore. I just prefer this mystical world I’ve created in my head, So if you need me, that’s where I’ll be.” And we can’t wait to visit her there come October.

While Carter is very traditional when it comes to her country sound, it’s her lyricism and artistry that makes her stand out in the world of up and coming artists. She’s not afraid to say bold things and drop a few (or many) cuss’s in her songs. One of the latest singles off the album “grudge” is a prime example of who Carter is through and through, provocative for the genre yet country to the core.

Carter seemingly has never let the rules of country define her, not in a genre bending way per say, but what’s cool about Carter is she doesn’t seem to care what country thinks of her. She says what she wants and holds her ground all while staying true to its musical values.

To sum it up, Carter Faith is a rising country star as I’m sure a lot of us are just now catching onto. She’s about to have the biggest year of her career touring all over the world with some of country’s current biggest acts like Kelsea Ballerini and Little Big Town.

We can’t wait to enter Cherry Valley.

Stay wild, Stay bold, Stay country
