Does the opening intro of Need You Now by Lady A or the bridge in Break It Right Back by Megan Moroney bring out your inner crashout? Well, it does for us.
There are so many country songs that evoke this emotion, and just like “male regret,” these songs are fueled by passion, heavy lyricism, and instrumental breaks that make you feel every word and emotion.
We’ve found that there are two types of country crashouts. The first is the melancholy heartbreak kind — slow and reflective. The second is the more intense, fiery heartbreak — maybe fueled by a little anger — with rock-and-roll elements and heavy builds.
All of these “crashout”-classified country songs have strong messages and a certain rage that the artist displays. Whether you’re currently going through it or just love this kind of passionate country music, here are our Top 10 Country Crashout Songs that get us fired up. There are so many more to choose from beyond these ten, so the rest of our list can be found on our WH Spotify playlist, coming soon!
- Need You Now — Lady A
This song feels like both a plea and a surrender — trying to resist feeling a certain way, but ultimately accepting that you can’t help it, that you need that person at a quarter after one. Lady A is such a great band with so many heartfelt, confessional songs, and an honorable mention goes to “What If I Never Get Over You”, which poses such an honest and haunting question.
- What Hurts the Most — Rascal Flatts
This song feels so honest, vulnerable, and reflective. It captures how being so close to having something you wanted, and then losing it, is the hardest part, along with the lingering “what if” that comes with it.
- Travelin’ Soldier — The Chicks
This song is absolutely heartbreaking, and The Chicks tell the story so beautifully. Both the original version and Cody Johnson’s cover capture that same raw emotion, and both are definitely “crashout” approved.
- Not Ready to Make Nice — The Chicks
Our fourth pick is another from The Chicks, and this one is top-tier female rage. Pure, unapologetic, and honestly just being fed up. When that second verse kicks in, don’t hold the girlies back.
- Just a Dream — Carrie Underwood
We all know and love Before He Cheats, Blown Away, and Church Bells, but Just a Dream takes the cake for crashout. Carrie is such a great storyteller through her vocals, and you can feel the pure emotion in this song. Half the reason it’s so crashout-coded is because of how tragic the story is. An honorable mention goes to “I Know You Won’t” off the same album, which pulls on the heartstrings just as much.
6. Everytime I hear That Song – Blake Shelton
We’ve talked about how Blake Shelton’s music is a perfect example of male regret, and while She Wouldn’t Be Gone is a top-tier crashout track, Every Time I Hear That Song is just so relatable and filled with just as much emotion. We all have those songs that take us back — the ones we can’t even listen to — and Blake captures that feeling perfectly.
7. Penthouse (Healed Version) [Live] — Kelsea Ballerini
This song is such a crashout anthem that Kelsea had to release the live version — and the crowd absolutely feels every word. The lyric change from the original to the healed version, “I kissed someone new last night, and now I don’t care where you’re sleeping, baby,” hits every single time. Love Me Like a Girl is another Kelsea deep cut (article on her deep cuts coming soon!) that we also classify as crashout-approved, with such a raw and relatable message.
8. Break It Right Back — Megan Moroney
Our favorite Emo cowgirl always has us covered, releasing powerful songs that hit us right in the feels. The production in this track builds beautifully through each verse and chorus, leading up to that incredible bridge. And those lyrics? Absolutely potent.
9. Try Losing One — Tyler Braden
The builds and rises in this song draw the listener in deeper with every lyric, driving home the emotion behind the message. Male regret and crashout country go hand in hand, and this track is the perfect example.
10. Thought It Was Love — Ty Myers
TikTok blew up with crashout videos set to this song, and we totally get why. That “babyyy” line is packed with so much raw emotion, you can practically feel the crashout through your speakers.
There are still so many more songs that fit into this genre, like Fly Over States and See You When I See You by Jason Aldean, Highway Don’t Care by Tim McGraw featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, and Somewhere with You by Kenny Chesney — but we’ve kept this list to just ten.
