Georgia Webster had a stereotypical gen z rise to fame, starting her career off during the pandemic posting herself singing her songs on her bathroom floor to tiktok. It didn’t take long before her first viral video began to blow up in the world of country singer songwriters amassing millions of views and likes. Soon after that labels came calling where she scored her very first record deal with Sony music Nashville and put out her first single “Tell your mom” in October of 2020. Her writing was very reminiscent of early Taylor Swift with a refreshing pop twist on the cusp of the genre bending phenomenon.
At the age of eighteen her career started off on highs with being catapulted to big stages, touring with Kelsea Ballerini as well as Ingrid Andress. Which is a little bit different then performing to a cell phone, which can be the equivalent of being thrown into a shark tank for a lot of tiktok music sensations, but it was this that allowed Georgia to stand out and prove herself as a musician with more than just virality.
Through these early years of her career she’s put out a number of EP’s and dropped her last one in May of 2024, all under Sony. However, right around that time Georgia decided to do something not many artists who are on the rise would usually do, she made the decision to leave Sony altogether to become an independent artist. That’s pretty damn wildhearted.
Although being picked up so early into her career gave her the resources she needed to develop as an artist, she decided she didn’t want to be confined to whatever a label wanted from her. It’s been just over a year since she released anything, but in that time she’s been maintaining her social media audience with both posting her music like she always has and advocating for creatives through transparency of the industry. Showing people how most independent artists even with success are still working multiple jobs to support their passions. She often showcases the unfiltered reality of her own life online, playing shows as well as working at a cafe. However Georgia always makes it her point to say that being an independent is a labour of love that comes with the reward of pure creative freedom.

In the beginning of July Georgia released her very first single as an independent artist, “RUNNER”. A song that is a big shift in sound to the rest of her discography, heavily leaning into the more upbeat pop elements of her music. Georgia’s soft toned vocals combined with a layered beat and blunt lyricism makes it feel like a country influenced Gracie Abrams track. Quite frankly it is some of her best work and feels like the sound she’s been reaching for her whole career, there’s an energized buzz to it that makes you want to get up and, well run.
Georgia Webster is doing exactly what she wants and making use out of what she’s built for herself, all while advocating for people to live their best creative lives.
Stay Wild, Stay Free, Stay Country.
