Brandon Wisham: Country’s Next Biggest Hitmaker

By: Bridget Sinden

Brandon Wisham is an artist who encompasses all that country is, with an authentic voice and an honest story. Hailing from Georgia, he just released his latest song “Whiskeys Whisperin’” and it’s proving that he’s country’s next biggest hitmaker.

Brandon dropped his first single “Back together” just in March of this year, introducing us to him with a powerful melancholic country deep cut. Since then Brandon has released a number of intimate tracks about love, heartbreak and coming of age. His voice and lyricism are raw in a way that’s uniquely country, however Brandon doesn’t seem to be tying himself down to that.

With the release of “Whiskeys Whisperin’” Brandon wrote on instagram that the song was created without the influence of genre in mind, and that’s something you can really hear woven throughout the country/pop track as it possesses a blend of what Brandon says is all of his influences in one record.

In an interview we did with Brandon back in August we asked him about his musical inspirations, he of course noted country legends Luke Combs and Blake Shelton. But his answer was surprisingly rooted outside of his genre saying “This is going to throw you through a loop, growing up I was a huge Justin Bieber fan so I feel like Bieber vocally…and melodically, Drake.”

The Bieber-esque quality to his voice really takes precedence in “Whiskeys whisperin’” as it sounds a bit like it could be the lost country track off of Bieber’s latest album. This song stands out in Brandon’s discography as it’s a bit more upbeat, with an infectious chorus charged in the same way most Morgan Wallen hits are. It’s laced with a beat that makes you want to do some boot scootin’ rather than sit alone in your feelings the way most of his other songs do.

Brandon’s out here proving he can do it all, he’s showing us how his artistry is dynamic and fresh and how his song writing is in a league of its own. The rising country star has been touring this summer with Tyler Hubbard and will be joining both Lakeview and Nate Smith on the road this fall.
